The squad features 77 male and 48 women athletes across 13 sports disciplines, including para-sports, as India looks to build on its most recent Commonwealth Games campaign.

Athletics leads the list in terms of representation, with 32 athletes named. Boxing and judo follow with 14 athletes each, while weightlifting has 12 representatives. India had sent 210 athletes to the 2022 Commonwealth Games and finished with 61 medals.

Breakdown by sport: where India’s numbers are concentrated

The largest Indian contingent comes in athletics, where the entries include sprint, middle-distance, hurdles, jumps and throws. The athletics list includes Gurindervir Singh (men’s 100m), Animesh Kujur (men’s 200m), and a set of 400m and mixed 4x400m relay entries featuring Vishal TK, Rajesh Ramesh, Rashdeep Kaur, Neeru Pathak and Ansa Babu. The squad also includes Neeraj Chopra in men’s javelin throw, alongside Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh.

In women’s distance and endurance events, Parul Chaudhary is listed for women’s 3000m steeplechase and women’s 5000m, while Priyanka Goswami and Ravina Gaikwad are named for women’s 10,000m walk. Field event entries include Tejaswin Shankar (men’s high jump and men’s decathlon), Murali Sreeshankar (men’s long jump), and Tajinderpal Singh Toor (men’s shot put).

India’s para-athletics group includes entries such as Rakeshbhai Bhatt and Shreyansh Trivedi (men’s 100m T38), Mohammed Basil M and Dilip Mahadu Gavit (men’s 100m T47), and Ramesh Shanmugam (men’s 1500m T54). The para field list features Devender Kumar and Sagar Thayat (men’s discus throw F44), plus multiple shot put entries including Shubham Juyal and Soman Rana (men’s shot put F57) and Sharmila Dhankar and Shilpa K Shyla (women’s shot put F57).

Boxing is one of India’s biggest squads, with 14 athletes across men’s and women’s weight categories. The list includes Jadumani Singh (men’s 55 kg), Sachin Siwach (men’s 60 kg), and Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75 kg), along with women’s entries such as Sakshi Choudhary (51 kg), Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Jasmine Lamboria (57 kg), Priya Ghanghas (60 kg), Parveen Hooda (65 kg) and Arundhati Choudhary (70 kg).

Judo also has 14 names, featuring men’s categories from 60 kg through 100+ kg and women’s categories from 48 kg through 78+ kg. The list includes Harsh Singh (men’s 60 kg) and Tulika Maan (women’s 78+ kg), among others.

Weightlifting has 12 representatives, including Mirabai Chanu (women’s 48 kg), Bindyarani Devi (women’s 58 kg) and Harjinder Kaur (women’s 69 kg), alongside men’s entries such as Rishikanta Singh (men’s 60 kg) and Lovepreet Singh (men’s 110+ kg).

In swimming, India’s entries include Srihari Nataraj (men’s 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay) and Aryan Nehra (men’s 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle, plus the 4x200m freestyle relay). Sajan Prakash is listed for men’s 50m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle, while Aneesh S Gowda and Dhakshan Shashikumar are also included with relay involvement.

India’s para-swimming list includes Ravi Veera Venkata Budigina (freestyle 50m S7), Ali Imam (freestyle 100m S13), Suyash Narayan Jadhav (freestyle 50m S7), Chaitanya Vishwas Kulkarni (freestyle 200m S14) and Swatik Patil (freestyle 50m S7).

Other disciplines named include artistic gymnastics (men’s and women’s team all-around squads), lawn bowls (singles and pairs entries), track cycling and para track cycling, para powerlifting, and 3×3 basketball in the women’s wheelchair category.
