Sivasangari makes PSA World Tour Finals final in Paris

Sivasangari booked a place in the PSA World Tour Finals final in Paris with a 74-minute semi-final victory over top seed Amina Orfi

Sivasangari has become the first Malaysian to reach the PSA World Tour Finals final since 2012 after battling past top seed Amina Orfi of Egypt in Paris. The fourth seed sealed her spot with an 8-11, 11-10, 11-8, 11-10 win in a gripping semi-final that lasted 74 minutes, according to a report by Bernama.

The result sends Sivasangari into today’s final, where she will face another Egyptian opponent in second seed Hania El Hammamy. For Malaysia, the achievement marks a significant milestone at the season-ending event, ending a long wait for a finalist at the PSA World Tour Finals.

How Sivasangari reached the final

Sivasangari’s semi-final against Orfi was decided across four games, with momentum shifting as the match progressed. After dropping the opening game 8-11, she responded by taking the next three games in tight fashion: 11-10, 11-8, 11-10.

The narrow scorelines underlined how little separated the two players, particularly in the second and fourth games, both of which finished 11-10. Over 74 minutes, Sivasangari managed to turn the match around after losing the first game, closing out the contest without needing a deciding fifth.

With the victory, Sivasangari advanced to the final as the tournament’s fourth seed, overcoming the top seed to keep her title hopes alive in Paris.

Final opponent: Hania El Hammamy

In the final, Sivasangari will meet second seed Hania El Hammamy of Egypt. The head-to-head record between the two players favours Hania, with Sivasangari having won only two of their previous 10 meetings.

Those two wins for Sivasangari came at the Women’s Squash Championships in 2017 and the London Squash Classic in 2024, offering reference points as she prepares for another high-stakes matchup against Hania.

What’s at stake for Sivasangari in 2026

Sivasangari, the world No 5 who hails from Kedah, is also chasing another title to add to her 2026 season. The report noted she already won the 2026 Grasshopper Cup in Zurich, Switzerland, in April, and the PSA World Tour Finals now represents another opportunity to build on that success.

Reaching the final in Paris places Sivasangari within one match of a major season-ending trophy and further highlights her consistency in 2026. With a place in the final secured after defeating the top seed, she will now look to overcome the second seed to complete a standout run at the PSA World Tour Finals.
