Sivasangari Runner-Up at PSA Squash Tour Finals in 2026

World No. 5 Sivasangari ended as runner-up at the PSA Squash Tour Finals after falling in four games to Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy

Malaysia’s Sivasangari finished runner-up at the PSA Squash Tour Finals, capping an impressive run at the prestigious season-ending tournament despite a four-game defeat to Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy.

The world number five, seeded fourth, produced Malaysia’s best result at the event since squash legend Nicol Ann David reached the final in 2012, underlining the significance of her campaign even as she missed out on the title.

Final: El Hammamy seals title in four games

In the final, Sivasangari dropped the opening game 6-11 before responding with a strong second-game showing to edge El Hammamy 11-10. The second seed from Egypt then steadied herself to close out the match, taking the next two games 11-8, 11-8 to secure the championship.

The game-by-game progression reflected a contest in which Sivasangari found a way back after a difficult start, only for El Hammamy to regain control across the closing stages. After splitting the first two games, the Egyptian’s back-to-back 11-8 wins proved decisive in sealing the title.

Malaysia’s best Tour Finals showing since 2012

While the final ended in defeat, Sivasangari’s runner-up finish stands out as a landmark result for Malaysian squash at the season-ending showcase. The achievement is the country’s best at the tournament since Nicol Ann David reached the final in 2012, highlighting the scale of Sivasangari’s run through the draw.

As the fourth seed and world No. 5, Sivasangari’s path to the final also reinforced her status among the leading players on tour, particularly given the calibre of opposition she faced in the latter rounds.

Upset semi-final win set up the title match

Sivasangari booked her place in the final after producing what was described as the tournament’s biggest upset, defeating world number two and top seed Amina Orfi of Egypt in a gruelling 74-minute semi-final.

The semi-final scoreline underlined how tight the contest was: Sivasangari came through 8-11, 11-10, 11-8, 11-10. After losing the first game, she levelled the match by taking the second 11-10, then moved ahead with an 11-8 third game before closing it out 11-10 in the fourth to complete the upset.

That win over the top seed set the stage for the final against El Hammamy and ensured Sivasangari would leave the PSA Squash Tour Finals with a major result, even if the title ultimately went the Egyptian’s way.

Strong 2026 form continues after Zurich title

The runner-up finish also continues Sivasangari’s impressive form in 2026. Earlier in the year, she won the Grasshopper Cup title in Zurich in April, and her Tour Finals run added another significant highlight to her season.

With a title already secured in Zurich and a runner-up finish at the season-ending Tour Finals, Sivasangari’s 2026 campaign has featured deep runs and high-level results against top-seeded opposition.
