Yuki Bhambri Targets Deep US Open 2026 Doubles Run

Yuki Bhambri will reunite with Michael Venus for the US Open 2026 men’s doubles, with the Indian player targeting another deep run in New York after reaching the semi-finals last year. Bhambri and Venus are scheduled to open their campaign against Americans Ryan Seggerman and Patrik Trhac.

Bhambri said last season’s run has given him positive memories and added motivation as he returns for the final Grand Slam of the year. The Indian player described the 2025 campaign as a breakthrough moment and said he is looking forward to competing again at the US Open.

“I think it’s a bit of a mental switch, having made a deep run and being quite close to making the final last year,” Bhambri said. “So, I have fond memories from last year, making it to the semi-finals. I’ve had good success in both singles and doubles as well.”

Bhambri draws confidence from 2025 semi-final

Last year’s semi-final appearance is the key reference point for Bhambri as he begins another men’s doubles challenge at Flushing Meadows. He said the experience of going deep at the tournament has helped shape his approach for this year’s event, while also stressing his excitement about competing in New York once more.

“Obviously, last year was spectacular for me and a bit of a breakthrough moment,” Bhambri said. “So, I’m looking forward to going out there again. I’m excited; it’s the last Slam of the year, and I’m definitely excited to come out and perform.”

Bhambri also spoke about his connection with New York, calling it one of his favourite cities and highlighting the support he receives there. Coming from Delhi, he said he enjoys the energy created by the crowds and the presence of Indian supporters during the tournament.

“I love New York, it’s one of my favourite cities. I love coming here,” Bhambri said. “It’s the best place in the world to play tennis. Coming from a big city like Delhi and seeing all the people around, as well as getting all the support, is great.”

The 33-year-old said the atmosphere at the US Open is distinctive, noting that Indian fans regularly turn out to support him. He also pointed to the appeal of watching matches on Arthur Ashe Stadium and feeding off the crowd energy as part of the New York experience.

“Obviously, it’s a great crowd over here, with a lot of Indians coming out and supporting,” he said. “It’s absolutely electric. Sometimes, you go out there on Ashe and watch a match just to feed off the crowd.”

Opening-round focus for Bhambri and Venus

Despite the ambition to go deep again, Bhambri said he and Venus will approach the tournament one match at a time. Their first-round opponents are Seggerman and Trhac, an American pairing, and Bhambri acknowledged the difficulty of the opening assignment.

“I think we’ll probably take it match by match, but hopefully, we can go deep again,” Bhambri said. “I’m back to playing with Michael, and we’re both looking forward to it. We obviously have a tough first round against two local Americans.”

Bhambri added that the early upsets already seen in the tournament underline the need to avoid looking beyond the opening match. While a title run remains the ideal objective, he said the immediate priority is to deal with each challenge as it comes.

“We’ve already seen so many upsets, so you can’t really look past the first round,” Bhambri said. “Every match is tough. Ideally, you would want to go all the way, but I think we’ve got to focus on each match and see how it goes.”
