Bajaj Finserv Backs Swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu’s Career

Bajaj Finserv has announced its support for Indian swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu, marking the financial services company’s entry into swimming as it broadens its investment focus across emerging sports. The company has identified swimming, tennis, badminton and running as four priority areas, with an emphasis on supporting athletes during formative stages of their careers.

The partnership links Bajaj Finserv with Desinghu, who was the youngest member of India’s contingent at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Bengaluru-born swimmer made her Olympic debut at the age of 14 and is still in the early phase of her senior career, while continuing to work towards higher levels of international competition.

Four-sport investment focus

Bajaj Finserv said its approach is centred on investing at a stage where support can “shape the trajectory of the sport itself and in turn the careers of many sportspeople”. Alongside swimming, the company has named tennis, badminton and running as areas for investment.

The stated objective is to support athlete development rather than concentrate exclusively on established sporting properties or major events. Bajaj Finserv also said it aims to “elevate the landscape of swimming and other emerging sports in India”, creating a wider platform for its sports investments across the four disciplines.

For Desinghu, the backing arrives after a period of continued progression in domestic swimming. She began training at six and moved through India’s junior ranks under coach Nihar Ameen before reaching the Olympic stage in Paris.

Her results have improved since that Olympic debut. At the 2025 National Games, Desinghu won 11 medals, including nine gold medals. She now holds Indian national records in the 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle events.

The improvement in her 200m freestyle record illustrates that progress. Her national mark has moved from 2:04.24 at the 2023 National Aquatics Championships to 2:01.81, a reduction of more than two seconds from the earlier time cited by the company announcement.

Early-career support in Indian sport

The association gives Bajaj Finserv a connection with an athlete who has already appeared at the Olympics but remains at an important development point in her career. It also places swimming within the company’s broader plan to support athletes and disciplines where sustained commercial backing can influence career progression.

No financial value for Bajaj Finserv’s support of Desinghu has been disclosed. The company has also not announced a specific investment allocation for swimming, tennis, badminton or running.

The announcement nevertheless adds to the role of corporate partnerships in India’s sporting ecosystem beyond tournament sponsorships. By focusing on athletes at an earlier stage, the approach presents another route for businesses to participate in the development of sportspeople and emerging disciplines.

Desinghu’s Olympic experience, National Games medal haul and national freestyle records make her a prominent first swimming association for the company.
