Gurnoor Brar Blasts Four Sixes in India Warm-Up Match

Gurnoor Brar produced a blistering late cameo for India on Day 2 of the three-day warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI, hitting four sixes in five deliveries in the final over of the day. The left-handed player remained unbeaten on 36 from 18 balls after taking on Sri Lankan spinner Dilum Sudeera.

The burst came at the close of play, giving India an emphatic finish to the second day of their preparation match. Brar’s sequence in the over read 6, 6, 0, 6, 6 after Devdutt Padikkal had taken a single from the opening ball to hand him the strike.

Padikkal has been preparing for the Sri Lanka tour with childhood coach Mohammad Naseeruddin. According to Naseeruddin, Padikkal approached him after the KSCA Maharaja Trophy T20 to begin red-ball training before leaving for Colombo.

The preparation included using Kookaburra balls on turning pitches, reflecting the type of conditions Padikkal expected in Sri Lanka. Naseeruddin said the aim was for the batter to be ready if an opportunity emerged, regardless of whether his place in the XI was initially certain.
