Satwik-Chirag Rally to Win China Masters 2026 Title

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the China Masters 2026 men’s doubles title after fighting back to defeat He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in the final.

The Indian pair recovered from a difficult opening game to complete the turnaround in a one-hour, 10-minute contest. It was their second title of the season, following their Singapore Open Super 750 success, and came after they had previously finished runners-up at the China Masters in 2023 and 2025.

China Masters final turns after opening-game setback

Rankireddy and Shetty were under pressure early in the final. He and Ren moved 11-5 ahead in the first game and continued to build their advantage, reaching 19-10 before closing out the game 21-11.

The opening game put the Indian duo one game behind, but they made a far stronger start to the second. The score was level at 3-3 before the Chinese pair held a 6-4 advantage. Rankireddy and Shetty then found their way into the contest and took control of the game.

They opened a 10-7 lead and carried an 11-7 advantage into the second half of the game. Their momentum continued as they stretched the margin to 15-8. Although He and Ren reeled off five successive points later in the game, Rankireddy and Shetty still led 18-13 and completed the game 21-13 to force a decider.

The second-game response changed the direction of the final. After being outscored heavily in the first, the Indian pair levelled the match with an equally emphatic game and took the championship contest into a third and final game.

Decider swings before late comeback

The deciding game again began awkwardly for Rankireddy and Shetty. They fell 2-4 behind and were 6-7 down in a closely contested phase. The Chinese pair then led 11-9, leaving the Indians with work to do after the interval.

He and Ren extended their advantage to 14-11, with Rankireddy and Shetty dealing with a number of basic errors. But the Indian pair did not allow the gap to settle the match. A strong rally brought them level at 16-16, restoring the tension in the title match.

From there, Rankireddy and Shetty moved ahead in the closing stretch. They reached championship point and converted to secure the 21-17 third game, completing a three-game comeback after losing the opening set.

Second title of the season for Rankireddy and Shetty

The China Masters victory added another significant result to the pair’s 2026 campaign. They had already won the Singapore Open Super 750 and reached the final of the Thailand Open Super 500 before arriving at this final.

The title also ended their wait for a China Masters crown after runner-up finishes in the 2023 and 2025 editions. Their latest final followed a semi-final win over Malaysia’s Nur Mohd Azriyn and Tan Wee Kiong, where they won 21-16, 18-21, 21-11 in one hour and six minutes.

In the final, the 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 scoreline captured a match of changing momentum. Rankireddy and Shetty absorbed the first-game loss, levelled decisively in the second, and produced the decisive late response in the third to leave China Masters 2026 with the men’s doubles trophy.
