Champions League Finals Set for Munich in 2028, Barcelona in 2029

UEFA has confirmed that Munich will host the 2028 Champions League final at the Allianz Arena, while Barcelona’s rebuilt Camp Nou will stage the 2029 final. The announcement sets the venues for two future editions of European club football’s biggest match and returns the final to two stadiums with notable Champions League history.

The Allianz Arena in Munich will welcome the final three years after it last staged the occasion in 2025. On that night, Paris Saint-Germain won their first Champions League title with a 5-0 victory over Inter Milan.

Barcelona will then host the 2029 final at the rebuilt Camp Nou. The stadium last held a Champions League final in 1999, when Manchester United scored twice in stoppage time to beat Bayern Munich 2-1.

Munich and Barcelona added to UEFA’s future final schedule

The 2028 decision gives Munich another Champions League final after the 2025 showpiece, while the 2029 selection brings the competition’s final back to Camp Nou for the first time since the dramatic 1999 match.

UEFA’s announcement also means Spain will host Champions League finals in two of the three editions from 2027 to 2029. The 2027 final is already scheduled to be played at the Metropolitano in Madrid, followed by Barcelona’s hosting role in 2029.

The selection of the rebuilt Camp Nou places Barcelona back on the future final calendar after a 30-year gap since the stadium’s previous Champions League decider. The 1999 final remains the last such game at the venue, with Manchester United overturning the score late against Bayern Munich.

Munich’s most recent final offered a very different result. Paris Saint-Germain defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in 2025 to secure the club’s first Champions League crown. That match was the last Champions League final held in the German city before UEFA awarded it the 2028 edition.

The future-host announcement covers more than the Champions League. UEFA has also allocated finals for the Europa League, Conference League, Super Cup and Women’s Champions League across the same period.

The Europa League final will be played in Bucharest in 2028 and Belgrade in 2029. Turin has been awarded the 2028 Conference League final, with Budapest set to host the 2029 edition.

For the UEFA Super Cup, Amsterdam will host in 2027 and Astana will stage the 2028 match. In the women’s Champions League, Lyon has been selected for the 2028 final and Cardiff for the 2029 final.

A multi-year map for UEFA’s major club finals

With the latest allocations, UEFA has established host locations for a range of major club finals through 2029. Munich’s Allianz Arena and Barcelona’s rebuilt Camp Nou are the headline venues in the men’s Champions League schedule, following Madrid’s Metropolitano as the host for 2027.

The 2028 and 2029 selections also connect the future schedule with memorable previous finals. Munich last hosted Paris Saint-Germain’s first title in 2025, while Camp Nou’s last final produced Manchester United’s stoppage-time comeback against Bayern Munich in 1999.
