Yuki Bhambri Wins Almaty Open Doubles Title With Ryan Seggerman

Yuki Bhambri won his first ATP Tour title of the 2026 season after partnering Ryan Seggerman to the Almaty Open doubles crown on Sunday. The fourth-seeded Indo-American pair defeated Austrian top seeds Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner 7-6(3), 6-7(1), [10-2] in the final of the ATP 250 event.

The victory delivered Bhambri’s fifth career ATP doubles title and added a new chapter to his growing collection on the tour. After two tightly contested sets split the final, Bhambri and Seggerman took control in the match tiebreak, winning it 10-2 to secure the title.

Match tiebreak decides Almaty Open final

Bhambri and Seggerman opened the final by edging the first set in a tiebreak, 7-6(3), against Miedler and Oberleitner. The Austrian pair, who entered the match as the top seeds, responded in the second set and levelled the contest by taking the tiebreak 7-6(1).

With the championship decided by a match tiebreak, the fourth seeds produced their most decisive passage of the final. Bhambri and Seggerman won 10-2, turning a closely fought two-set encounter into a title-clinching result.

For Bhambri, the Almaty triumph was his second ATP final appearance of the season. He had previously finished runner-up at the ATP 250 Geneva Open alongside New Zealand’s Michael Venus. The title in Almaty ensured that his 2026 campaign now includes an ATP Tour trophy.

The result is particularly significant because it moves Bhambri’s career ATP doubles title total to five. His previous ATP 250 titles came in Mallorca in 2023 and in Gstaad and Munich in 2024. He also won the ATP 500 title in Dubai in 2025, partnering Australia’s Alexei Popyrin.

A fifth ATP doubles crown for Bhambri

Bhambri, India’s number one doubles player, had reached a career-high ranking of 18 in February before gradually dropping outside the top 40. His season has included a run to the third round of the Australian Open men’s doubles with Sweden’s Andre Goransson, followed by a second-round exit at the French Open.

He also had first-round exits at Wimbledon and the US Open while partnering Venus. Bhambri’s strongest Grand Slam showing remains his 2025 US Open campaign, when he and Venus reached the semifinals.

The Almaty Open title gives Bhambri a major result after a medal-less Asian Games outing in Japan, where he had been expected to challenge for a place on the podium. Alongside Seggerman, he overcame the top-seeded Austrian team in a final that required three deciding stages, finishing with a commanding match-tiebreak performance.

For the 34-year-old, the win reinforces an established record of success at ATP level. Bhambri’s first title of 2026 came through a 7-6(3), 6-7(1), [10-2] final victory, with Seggerman sharing the Almaty Open doubles trophy.
