Pranavi Urs to Receive Rs 1 Crore After Asian Games Golf Gold

CategoriesGolf

Pranavi Urs will receive Rs 1 crore from AM Green IGPL after making history as the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold medal in golf. The league announced the award on Saturday in recognition of Urs’ individual triumph.

The 23-year-old golfer from Mysuru secured gold with a 15-under total of 265 at Kasugai Country Club East Course. Her result delivered a landmark achievement for Indian women’s golf at the Asian Games.

AM Green IGPL will also award Rs 25 lakh individually to each member of India’s women’s team after its silver-medal finish in the team event. Urs was part of that silver-winning side alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.

A landmark individual gold for Indian golf

Urs’ 15-under 265 was enough to earn the Asian Games individual gold and place her in Indian golf history. She became the first Indian woman to claim a golf gold at the continental event, adding a new milestone to the country’s record in the sport.

The significance of the result is underlined by India’s long wait for an Asian Games golf gold. Before Urs’ victory, the country had not won a golf gold at the Games since Shiv Kapur captured the men’s individual title in 2002.

That gap made the achievement particularly notable. Urs’ success ended a wait of more than two decades for an Indian Asian Games golf gold, while also marking the first such title won by an Indian woman.

The award announced by AM Green IGPL places a financial recognition alongside the sporting milestone. The Rs 1 crore prize is specifically for Urs’ historic individual gold, while the additional team awards acknowledge India’s silver-medal performance in the women’s competition.

For the team event, the league’s announcement covers all three Indian golfers named in the silver-winning lineup. Urs, Ashok and Dagar will each receive Rs 25 lakh individually, according to the announcement.

Recognition for gold and team silver

The two awards reflect India’s medal return across the individual and team competitions. Urs’ individual title came at Kasugai Country Club East Course, where she completed the event at 15-under 265. The women’s team then added silver with Urs, Ashok and Dagar representing India.

Urs’ gold stands as the central achievement in the announcement, given both the score she posted and the historical significance of becoming India’s first female Asian Games golf champion. The team silver ensured that the Indian women’s contingent was also recognised collectively through separate individual awards for its three members.

With Rs 1 crore earmarked for Urs and Rs 25 lakh set aside for each of the three silver-winning team members, AM Green IGPL’s announcement recognises both the individual breakthrough and the women’s team’s medal-winning campaign. For Urs, the award follows a result that restored India to the Asian Games golf gold list for the first time since 2002.
